CULTURE MOVES EUROPE

Collocandosi nel dialogo culturale tra Serbia e Italia, il progetto intende promuovere il 'ponte culturale' tra Belgrado e Roma presentando una mostra collettiva di artisti emergenti romani e belgradesi a Belgrado nel Settembre 2025.
Gli artisti romani e belgradesi under 30 selezionati rappresentano il panorama artistico delle rispettive aree in termini di poetiche, temi indagati e linguaggi utilizzati. Le loro opere saranno presentate insieme nella mostra collettiva.
Gli artisti romani coinvolti in 'Connecting New Generations' sono Giulia Apice, Verdiana Bove, Luca Di Terlizi,Caterina Sammartino e Maddalena Scuderoni.
Bove, Di Terlizi e Sammartino sono co-fondatori di Condotto 48, uno spazio gestito da artisti nato nel 2021 che
contribuisce allo sviluppo del panorama artistico romano e sostiene la ricerca di giovani artisti in Italia e all'estero.
Giulia Apice e Maddalena Scuderoni hanno il loro studio presso Of1c1na-Spazio Y, uno spazio gestito da artisti e uno studio condiviso nato nel 2012 che promuove eventi culturali e artistici nell'area in cui ha sede e che è aperto a collaborazioni e progetti esterni. Gli artisti belgradesi saranno selezionati da un curatore rappresentativo di Belgrado. Gli obiettivi del progetto sono promuovere lo scambio culturale e valorizzare l'arte contemporanea emergente a Roma e Belgrado.
Qual è il ruolo dell’arte nel creare un dialogo transnazionale? Quali sono i temi esplorati e i linguaggi utilizzati dalle nuove generazioni di artisti? È possibile individuare un filo conduttore nelle loro opere? Quali sono i punti in comune e le differenze tra la scena artistica contemporanea emergente di Roma e quella di Belgrado?
'Connecting New Generations' approfondirà queste questioni presentando per la prima volta in una mostra collettiva all’estero le opere di artisti emergenti romani e serbi.
Il progetto si propone quindi come un momento di discussione e incontro, sia a livello locale che internazionale, per comprendere meglio la propria identità culturale e quella degli altri.
Come afferma il filosofo Byung-Chul Han in 'The Expulsion of the Other', l’incontro con l’Altro, destabilizzante e vivificante, può dare a ciascuno la propria identità e generare esperienza reale. È per questo che, oggi più che mai, è urgente costruire una comunità umana basata sull’ascolto e sull’apertura verso gli altri. L'idea è di presentare questa mostra collettiva in seguito a Roma o in un'altra città come mostra itinerante all'estero.
'Connecting New Generations' potrebbe essere il primo di una serie di incontri per approfondire i panorami artistici emergenti contemporanei, per costruire una costellazione di sinergie e una rete di ponti culturali tra diversi paesi.

Placing itself in the cultural dialogue between Serbia and Italy, the project intends to promote the ‘cultural bridge’ between Belgrade and Rome by presenting a group exhibition of roman and belgrade emerging artist in Belgrade in september 2025. The selected roman and belgradian artists under 30 represent the artistic panorama of the respective areas in terms of poetics, themes investigated and languages used. Their works will be presented together in the group exhibition. The roman artists involved in 'Connecting New Generations' are Giulia Apice, Verdiana Bove, Luca Di Terlizi, Caterina Sammartino and Maddalena Scuderoni. Bove, Di Terlizi and Sammartino are co-founders of Condotto 48, an artist-run space born in 2021 which contributes to the development of the Roman artistic panorama and support the research of young artists in Italy and abroad. Giulia Apice and Maddalena Scuderoni have their studio at Of1c1na-Spazio Y, an artist run space and shared studio born in 2012 which promotes cultural and artistic event in the area where it’s located and that is open to external collaborations and projects. The Belgradian artists will be selected by a representative curator of Belgrade. The project's objectives are to promote the cultural exchange and to enhance emerging contemporary art in Rome and Belgrade.
Which is the role of art in creating a transnational dialogue? What are the themes explored and the languages used by the new generations of artists? Is it possible to identify a common thread in their works? What are the common points and differences between the emerging contemporary art scene of Rome and that of Belgrade? 'Connecting New Generations' will delve into these questions by presenting the works of roman and serbian emerging artists for the first time in a group exhibition abroad. The project therefore presents itself as a moment of discussion and meeting, both at a local and international level, to better understand one's own cultural identity and that of others. As the philosopher Byung-Chul Han states in 'The Expulsion of the Other', the encounter with the Other, destabilizing and life-giving, can give everyone their own identity and generate real experience. It is for this reason that, today more than ever, there is an urgency to build a human community based on listening and openness to others. The idea is to present this collective exhibition later in Rome or in another city as touring exhibition abroad. 'Connecting New Generations' could be the first of a series of meetings to delve deeper into contemporary emerging artistic panoramas, to build a constellation of synergies and a network of cultural bridges among different countries.
