AREA CONDIZIONATA - SPAZI PROGETTUALI IN DIALOGO

Area condizionata – spazi progettuali in dialogo è un’occasione di incontro e di conversazione che il MACRO dedica a un’ampia selezione di spazi indipendenti, project space, artist-run space, studi d’artistə e associazioni culturali nati e operanti nella città di Roma.
Il titolo dell’evento evoca quello di una mostra-performance organizzata nel 1969 da Tommaso Trini nella galleria di Franco Toselli. Parte del più ampio progetto Art Terminal, una libera associazione caratterizzata da un numero aperto di partecipanti, l’attività concepita dal galleristə e dal criticə prevedeva di radunare nello spazio artistə, criticə, architettə e designer per una settimana col fine di creare un lavoro collettivo. Il progetto fu realizzato solo in minima parte, trasformandosi in una grande battaglia di cuscini.

Richiamando lo stesso spirito, e connettendosi all’attualità, Area condizionata vuole offrire agli spazi progettuali indipendenti romani un momento di dialogo e un’occasione di libera autorappresentazione all’interno del museo d’arte contemporanea della città. Il loro universo articolato e per definizione ricco di identità e sfumature è stato di recente indagato in una forma editoriale, attraverso il progetto VERA a cura di Damiana Leoni (Quodlibet), e in forma espositiva, con la mostra Materia Nova, a cura di Massimo Mininni presso la Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Roma. Area condizionata prosegue questo racconto in una dimensione dal vivo, attraverso un intenso pomeriggio di incontri e scambi. Interverranno 20 realtà progettuali, senza scopo commerciale, del paesaggio romano invitate a conoscersi più approfonditamente e a far emergere le diverse ragioni sociali e personali che caratterizzano le attitudini di ogni progetto.

Conditioned Area – project spaces in dialogue is an opportunity for meeting and conversation that MACRO dedicates to a wide selection of independent spaces, project spaces, artist-run spaces, artist studios and cultural associations born and operating in the city of Rome.
The title of the event evokes that of an exhibition-performance organized in 1969 by Tommaso Trini in Franco Toselli’s gallery. Part of the larger Art Terminal project, a free association characterized by an open number of participants, the activity conceived by the gallery owner and the critic envisaged gathering artists, critics, architects and designers in the space for a week with the aim of creating a collective work. The project was only partially realized, turning into a large pillow fight.
Recalling the same spirit, and connecting to current events, Areacondizionata wants to offer independent Roman design spaces a moment of dialogue and an opportunity for free self-representation within the city’s contemporary art museum. Their complex universe, by definition rich in identities and nuances, has recently been investigated in an editorial form, through the VERA project curated by Damiana Leoni (Quodlibet), and in an exhibition form, with the Materia Nova exhibition, curated by Massimo Mininni at the Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Rome. Areacondizionata continues this story in a live dimension, through an intense afternoon of meetings and exchanges. 20 design entities, without commercial purpose, from the Roman landscape will take part, invited to get to know each other in more depth and to bring out the different social and personal reasons that characterize the attitudes of each project.
